Assume it needs containment
The work area is sealed, put under negative pressure and filtered, and debris is bagged before it leaves. Nobody has to wait for a lab result to justify doing it properly.
“Black mold” usually means Stachybotrys, a dark growth that turns up on material that has been wet for a long time. Phoenix Mold Experts treats dark growth on soaked drywall or wood as a containment job regardless of what a lab would name it.
Color does not identify a species. Plenty of dark growth is something else entirely, and some of the growth people ignore is the same genus as the one they fear. What matters is that a material has been wet long enough for anything to grow on it.
Mold can irritate, and people with asthma or allergies may react to it. If anyone in the home feels unwell, that is a conversation for a doctor, not for a remediation company.

The method does not change with the color. Phoenix Mold Experts uses the same controls whenever a wet material has visible growth on it.

Long-term growth points to a slow source: a supply line under the slab, a drain pan that has been overflowing quietly, or a roof detail that leaks only in a heavy monsoon downpour.
Paper-faced drywall and wet insulation with established growth come out. Sealing or painting over them hides the problem instead of ending it.
Sampling can confirm what is growing, but ask yourself what you would do differently with the answer. If the material is wet and visibly growing, it is coming out either way. Testing is more useful for a record, a dispute between a tenant and an owner, or a comparison after the work.
Arizona has no state mold license, so credentials are not something you can look up on a state register. Ask any company what standards its technicians work to, what training they have had and whether the findings and the finished scope are written down.
Most of these jobs begin with a mold inspection and continue as contained removal. If a leak or flood started it, see mold after water damage, and read what to know about black mold before you panic about a photograph.
It is treated with the same care, and the honest answer is that color does not tell you much. Mold can irritate, and people with asthma or allergies may react. Health questions belong with a doctor; Phoenix Mold Experts deals with the wet material and the source.
The quote follows the size of the wet area, not the color of the growth. Access, the number of rooms involved and how long drying equipment has to run are what move the number. Phoenix Mold Experts prices it after the inspection.
Only if the result would change something. Visible growth on wet material is removed either way. Testing helps when you need a record for a sale, a rental dispute or a before-and-after comparison. See mold inspection and testing.
Leave established growth alone. Scrubbing it releases spores into the rest of the house and can spread a small problem across several rooms. Keep the room closed, keep the air conditioning vents in that room covered if you can do so safely, and wait for the inspection.
Send photographs of the growth and any leak history so the right visit can be arranged.
